Staying Healthy on Your Journey

At Meaningful Miles, we believe that the best way to enjoy the beauty and spirit of India is with peace of mind. Ensuring you are up to date with your vaccinations is more than just a travel requirement; it is a vital part of responsible travel. We recommend visiting a travel clinic or your GP at least 6 to 8 weeks before your departure to allow time for any multi-dose courses to be completed.

For Our ‘Animal Lover’ Guests

For our guests joining us specifically to work in animal shelters, clinics, or wildlife projects, your health needs are a priority. Because you will be in close contact with stray animals and wildlife, the Rabies pre-exposure vaccination is strongly recommended.

While rabies is preventable, India is a high-risk area, and having the vaccine before you travel simplifies treatment significantly if you are ever bitten or scratched. In the busy, often remote environments of animal rescue, this “pre-exposure” course provides a critical safety net, ensuring you can focus on your life-saving work with confidence. We also advise ensuring your Tetanus boosters are current, as working with equipment and animals in outdoor settings carries a higher risk of minor injuries.

Official Travel Health Information

Health requirements can change based on the region of India you are visiting and your personal health history. For the most accurate, up-to-date, and official advice, we recommend checking the UK Government or TravelHealthPro websites.
